No, I’m not referring to myself or any particular writer with the above title, but rather to a simple but effective word processing software for creative writers, Z-Write.

After considering a multitude of writing tools (index cards, marker board, bulletin board, etc.) and being frustrated by the limitations of other word processors in regards to this specific task, I finally acted on the recommendation of my pal, Alex Grecian and tried Z-Write. I’ve been using it the last couple months, to great effect. It’s helped me organize various projects and stories, as well as be more productive and efficient. It’s simply helped me write more, and for that it is priceless.

Arranging in as many Sections as one would prefer or require, it’s easy to create chapters, notes, character bios, and snipets of research info, complete with links. All Section titles are viewable at once in a sidebar on the left. Writers can bounce back and forth between them, as the selected content appears in a window on the right. Then one can save all this project information in a single compact file.
